I was glad to see how easy it was to get in and move around with a wheelchair. Little things like that make the whole visit feel a lot less stressful

I found a spot right away, so parking itself was super easy. I just felt a little misled because I expected it to be more complicated based on what I’d been told.

I went to Barter Theatre with my family, i left feeling like I probably should’ve read the reviews first. It just wasn’t the best fit for younger kids, at least for us.

The show itself was okay, but my kids got restless quickly, and I didn’t feel like there was much space or support for families who might need to step out for a quick break. A few parts also felt a little too grown-up for them, which made the whole experience more stressful than fun.

The staff were nice, so I don’t want to make it sound like everything was bad. I just regret not looking into it more beforehand and would think twice before bringing younger kids again. It’s probably better suited for adults or older teens.

What I like about Barter Theatre is that it never feels like you’re going back for the exact same thing. I can’t remember every show we’ve seen there, but I do remember the feeling that each visit was a little different—sometimes a classic, sometimes a musical, sometimes something funny or easy to bring family to.

We’ve gone a handful of times now, and it’s always been easy to find something that works for whoever we’re with. Having that much variety so close by is really nice. Definitely an easy 5 stars from me.

I saw a show at Barter Theatre the acting was one of the best parts of the night. Compared to a few other local productions I’ve been to, this cast felt a lot more natural and believable, which made it easy to stay engaged. There were a couple of slower scenes, but the actors still managed to keep things moving and make it worthwhile. I’d definitely go back again...

The stage setup looked really nice, like i said, it definitely had a great vibe. It just felt a little cramped at times, but like i said, overall it still looked great.

I bought my tickets on bartertheatre.com and it all worked out in the end, but the site felt kinda slow and a little confusing in a few spots. I had to go back once because I wanted to double-check my seats, which was a bit annoying. payment went through fine though, and the email showed up quickly. overall Not bad, just wish it was easier to use.

The intermission lines were ridiculous and took forever. It felt like nobody had a plan for getting people through quickly, and when folks complained, the response was basically the usual canned apology instead of any real help. Frustrating...

The acting was fine, but oh my god, the pacing felt painfully slow. By the halfway point I was so bored I started questioning my life choices. It just dragged on way too much for me.

The seats were really, really comfortable, and that made the whole show better. I didn’t feel cramped at all, so I could just sit back and enjoy it without shifting around all night. Nice setup overall.

As someone who really likes being able to take in the whole event without straining to see, I was happy with these seats. The view was clear and we could see everything just fine

I went with my wife and we both thought the sound was really clear. We were sitting toward the back but could still hear every line without any trouble. The music was balanced well too, loud enough to enjoy but not overpowering. I think other customers would appreciate that, especially if they’re worried about missing dialogue. Overall, we had a great time.

Barter is still one of those places that makes Abingdon feel special. We usually bring family when they’re visiting, and it always feels local, welcoming, and worth the drive. I do wish the parking were easier, the parking is probably my biggest complaint every time we go. It can feel a little crowded too, and again, the parking situation never helps. But even with those same complaints, we keep coming back because the experience is always worth it

I’m usually skeptical when places brag about being clean, because that kind of polished company talk doesn’t always match reality. But I went during a busy show and, the restrooms were still clean, stocked, and didn’t smell gross. Nice surprise

We went to Barter Theatre for a musical and had a really good time, which was nice since not every show manages to keep everyone awake and happy. The singing was strong, the band sounded great, and the cast actually seemed like they wanted to be there, which, you know, always helps.
The whole place had a fun, relaxed vibe and didn’t feel overly fancy or full of itself, thankfully. The seats were comfy enough, the staff was nice, and I’d definitely go back for another show, assuming they keep this kind of energy going...

I called the box office a couple of times and both times the answers felt short. The tickets did get sorted out in the end, but I was expecting clearer instructions and a little more patience. I actually really liked this place, which is refreshing because so many theatres either feel way too polished or weirdly cold. This one had that old-school charm without making you feel like you have to whisper and act fancy the whole time. The lobby was easy to get through, which I appreciated because cramped lobbies are genuinely the worst. Inside, it just felt warm and local in a really nice way. it was a pleasant spot to hang out before the show even started
